Da Camera Singers Virtual Choir: Sicut Cervus

This virtual choir video represents the culmination of Da Camera’s 2020-2021 year, and also marks the launch of the 60th anniversary season we head into now for 2021-2022. As Edmonton’s longest-standing chamber choir, Da Camera is proud of our history and of our beautiful city. This animated video follows a main character as she walks from downtown Edmonton into the restorative beauty of nature in Edmonton’s beloved river valley.

We collaborated with Rantdog Animation to develop the narrative and animation component, and with Ian Armstrong at Wolf Willow Studios for mixing. I also had the opportunity to go to the studio to work on the mixing and it was a satisfying moment to place my hands on the mixing board and adjust dynamics and phrasing as the track played along – about as close as I could get at this stage in the pandemic to actually conducting the group!
