Inspiration

This work is posted here for interest, and you are welcome to contact me to learn more about it, or if you’d like to consider performing it. Inspiration was commissioned by the Deep River Summer Music Camp. It is for choir, senior orchestra, and beginner instruments. The text incorporates lines from poetry written by 15 different students attending the camp, and I created a melody that would allow for every student learning an instrument for the first time that week to perform a section of the piece on the new instrument they were learning – based on the limited notes available from that collection of instruments, in fact, the melody was quite determined by that pitch set! A fun compositional challenge for me, and it was a wonderfully rewarding project with ‘inspiring’ results!
