The Meaning of Our Lives was commissioned by the Nova Scotia Choral Federation with support from the Estate of Robbie Smith, as part of the Robbie Songs Project – a Nova Scotian songwriter’s legacy. This particular song of Robbie’s is quite special in that it was never released, and only discovered after his death by his musical partner, Kathleen Glauser. Kathleen and Robbie performed together as the group “Naming the twins.”

I often gravitate toward music by artists from Canada’s east coast, and was delighted to discover Robbie Smith’s music. I’ve also arranged his songs Spanish Fisherman (available here) as well as Lincoln Cathedral and Let’s have some music, which are available from Cypress Choral Music.
